Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, including the ones that might make you think twice.

Does it work with Topstep Live funded accounts?

No. Topstep’s own help centre states that Live funded accounts cannot trade through the ProjectX Gateway API, which is what this copier connects through. Futurescopytrader works with TopstepX evaluation accounts and simulated funded accounts. See Topstep’s help centre for the current rules on your account type.

Is copy trading allowed by my prop firm?

Check your firm’s rules before connecting an account. Some firms restrict third-party tools or copy trading on evaluation or funded accounts. You’re responsible for knowing and following your firm’s rules — we can’t check this for you.

Is my API key safe?

Your TopstepX API key is encrypted at rest, is never shown again after you enter it, and you can delete it from your account at any time. See the Security section of the User Manual for the full detail.

What exactly gets copied?

Any trade you place by hand on the leader account: opens, adds, reductions, closes and flips. There is no strategy and no automation — the copier never decides anything on its own, it only mirrors what the leader account already did.

What if a follower's risk lock is on?

A lock (master lockout, an account lock, a daily loss limit or a session window) blocks new positions only. Closing or reducing an existing position is always mirrored, so a follower is never left stuck in a trade after the leader has exited.

Can I try it without risking real money?

Yes — the User Manual recommends practising with a TopstepX practice account and one micro contract before running it on an account that matters.

How does the launch offer work?

New subscribers get 50% off any plan for their first 3 months, then the regular price shown on the Pricing page — applied automatically at checkout, no code needed. It only applies to a new subscription, not an existing one.

How do I cancel, and what happens to my card?

Profile → Subscription → Cancel plan, or “Manage billing” for Stripe’s own Customer Portal. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Your card details are held by Stripe, never by us — cancelling doesn’t require removing a card first.

What happens if my card payment fails?

You keep full access for a short grace period while you update your card in Profile → Billing (or the Customer Portal). After the grace period, starting a new copier is blocked until it’s fixed — but a copier that’s already running is never stopped for a billing reason.
